The series featured the adventures of DC Comics book heroes Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman. These five superheroes along with superheroes in training Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog focused their abilities on putting away criminals, saving lives, and stopping terrible disasters. Each episode of the SuperFriends was geared to present, not only action, but also some lesson of educational value. A number of other famous DC comic book heroes appeared: Plastic Man, The Flash, and Green Arrow Eight 1-hour timeless adventures in a Deluxe 2-Disc Collector’s Edition showcase the universe’s greatest heroes paving the way for a brighter future.

My boy loves superheros. I would not allow him to watch current day superhero programs due to the violence. We bought the classic collection and are thrilled. I am so pleased that I was able to find these DVD's. My boy really went from PBS, Noggin to these DVD's (at 4 yrs old) I imagine if your child is more special effect savy he or she may be bored. If you are looking to provide your child with superhero entertainment without all the weapons, bad language and explosions this is a good pick.

You've been waiting for it and now it's here. Volume 2 of the 1973 First Season of Super Friends, with Wendy, Marvin, & Wonder Dog is now on DVD!

The episodes from this season were an hour long each (about 46 minutes without commercials) and focused more on mystery solving and plot developments rather than pure action and adventure stories like later Super Friends incarnations.

If this sells well, we should see the release of the three remaining Super Friends series some time in the near future. "The World's Greatest Super Friends" is even mentioned on the back of the case, which may be an indication that it will be the next season to be released.

I purchased these dvds so that I could share the experience, that I remembered as a kid, with my kids. It worked, and they loved them.

« Wonderful Cartoons »

My 11-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter have watched these DVD's repeatedly. They love them. For me, they're nostalgic. And now, when I watch them with the kids, they make me laugh for how cheesy and improbable they are. But, my kids love them and the videos are clean. Great choice if you're looking for something safe and fun to entertain your children.
